Did You Know… Top 10 points of interest of Healthy Interactions Conversation Map tools

Within the last several months, I have had many great conversations with the Conversation Map and digital engagement platform (DEP) users. I have been gathering a lot of great best practices and stories from you. The goal is for us to continue this conversation on an ongoing basis. This way, your experience using Map tools and DEP can become part of standards of care. At the same time, I realize that many of you have questions about the US diabetes Map program and all available resources. I put together a list of “Top Ten - Did You Know” items below.

  1. Did you know that Conversation Map sessions can be reimbursable?
    Conversation Map tools are a full DSMES curriculum and eligible for reimbursement when used within ADA Education Recognition Program (ERP) or AADE Diabetes Education accreditation Program (DEAP).
  2. Did you know that Conversation Map sessions offer a full curriculum of diabetes self-management education and Support (DSMES)?
    Conversation Map tools meet the ADA recognition criteria for a complete DSMES curriculum as they addresses all nine learning objectives and evaluation plans for type 2 diabetes.
  3. Did you know that there are a total of four Healthy Interactions Conversation Map tools and one for gestational diabetes?
    Each Map session delivers the right dose of education at the right time and covers a total of eight to ten hours of DSMES.
  4. Did you know that Conversation Map tools are designed for many ethnicities and all education levels?
    The more ethnically diversify participants, the better interaction, learning and support in a Map session.
  5. Did you know that Conversation Map tools use language that is action focused, free of stigma, respectful, inclusive, and person-centered and consequently consistent with the new recommendations for effective language in diabetes education and care?
    The Map content and interactions are consistent with the new guidelines for The Use of Language in Diabetes Care and Education that was published in 2017.
  6. Did you know that each Conversation Map session last approximately two hours and can be delivered once a week, therefore you can cover the whole reimbursable curriculum in one month?
    Two hours is about the right time to produce effective learning and knowledge retention. Also one week in between allows for action needed to support the weekly goals.
  7. Did you know that Conversation Map tools are available in 38 languages and over 120 countries around the world?
    No matter what country, people with diabetes experience the same standardized group education as provided with the US Map tools — we use the same methodology globally.
  8. Did you know that Conversation Map in person sessions now include digital engagement platform (DEP) that includes innovative online coaching this way you stay connected with your patients in between the sessions and after?
    Conversation Map activates goal setting but the real work is at home where a patient can use DEP to monitor their progress and actualize the goals in real time.
  9. Did you know that there have been over 60 independent publications and studies about Healthy Interactions Conversation Map tools?
